Profile 1: secondary school
This specialist performing arts and vocational school aims to create a safe, caring and happy community in which children learn with confidence. Dance, Drama and Music are lead subjects with up to 10% of students admitted to the school in each year group on the basis of aptitude in one or more or these specialist subjects, following a selection process. Teachers work hard to establish a safe, disciplined and attractive environment in which children are encouraged to develop a genuine desire to learn and to recognise their own capabilities. The students are confident, caring and responsible young people. The school holds both the Artsmark Gold and the Sportsmark Gold awards, recognising the amount of curriculum and extra-curricular provision made in these areas. Ofsted commented "The head teacher and his staff promote a culture of high expectation and high aspiration, underpinned by traditional values for behaviour and an innovative curriculum programme. This leads to the school equipping young people with excellent personal skills and consistently good qualifications."
Profile 2: primary school
This is a friendly, welcoming school with a hard working staff, many of whom are from overseas giving a real international feel. The school is two-form entry school with a highly successful inclusive 52 place base for children with Speech & Language Difficulties. Situated in spacious grounds the school also boasts a new and attractive buildings, incorporating four new classrooms, specialist teaching rooms, a purpose built Nursery, new staffroom and Children's Centre. The staff at this school believe that all children share the right of access to a broad and balanced curriculum and that we can achieve this by providing a good learning environment and establishing an atmosphere of encouragement, acceptance and sensitivity to individual needs.
Profile 3: secondary school
This is a school with a long and rich history in the local community. It is a thriving, highly successful, mixed comprehensive school for approximately 1300 pupils between the ages of 11 and 19. The school is a Specialist Arts College, a Training School and an Applied Learning School. Staff and students are proud of the history, success and achievements, and the school has a good reputation for high standards and high expectations. Last inspected by Ofsted in November 2006 it was judged to be a good school with outstanding features - outstanding achievement at KS3/4, outstanding curriculum opportunities, outstanding behaviour of pupils, outstanding leadership and capacity for further development! The school has excellent facilities and there is ongoing construction of a new £3 million wing to the school.
Profile 4: middle years
This School enjoy a strong academic reputation and maintains the highest teaching standards. This School believes in a much broader approach to education. They offer a wide range of sports, performing and creative arts, opportunities for visits in this country and abroad, individual challenges and many more rich experiences. The School is fully committed to implementing the best of good practice in education, to investing in high quality staff and to a continuous programme of enhancing facilities and resources.
